Infanticide exists in numerous rodent species and could be practiced by Grownup conspecifics of both sex. A number of motives have been proposed for this conduct, including nutritional anxiety, resource competition, staying away from misdirecting parental care and, in the case of males, aiming to make the mother sexually receptive. The latter purpo
